Assisted living facility for senior adults (ID)  was started in July 2012. Running it at  Multi-Purpose Community Centre in Dera village near Chattarpur for 8 years, it has been relocated at Muskaan premises in Vasant Kunj, Delhi.It is a response to a dire need of parents/families “who after us”. It is needed by all adults with IDD who need a safe and decent living arrangement when their parents become old, sick or pass away.
 

It was a huge responsibility that could be taken up only by a highly committed team ready to take challenges which may arise in such an undertaking. Muskaan team of parents and professionals are making best possible efforts for running it on the pattern of group home (“a home away from home”) providing loving & caring environment of a family with opportunities for living a fuller life. Vocational training, Employment and Recreational activities are integral part of the facility. It follows an empowering approach of participative and assisted living model where residents are engaged in making decisions on issues related to their life and day to day living.
 

Maximum capacity of a group home is at present 15 residents above the age of 20. Parents have to provide the funds for running expenses. Desirous candidates need to go through a rigorous process of admission aimed at developing a thorough understanding of the candidate and family.
